Lake Meditation Setup And Safety

Chel Hamilton

This meditation is going to be a guided imagery taking place on a large body of water, a uh a large lake. Now, even if you have a fear of boats or water, for a lot of people, once they're relaxed in a meditative state, these things don't bother them because your mind knows it's real but not real, kind of all at the same time. But if this is an intense fear for you of water or boats, then this meditation may not be the best fit for you. There are others for anxiety and stress relief that are already in the podcast that you could listen to. And of course, over the next several weeks, there will be more that are not water-based.

Return To Shore Feeling Positive

Go ahead now and close your eyes. Take a couple of deep breaths, just letting those audible little sighs out on the exhales, signaling to your body and mind, relax, and just let go for a time. You can turn your inner awareness to the top of your head or the tips of your toes, and if you choose, beginning to imagine a comforting, relaxing feeling beginning to drift through your body. Or if you prefer, you can just focus your attention on the sound of my voice and the feeling of the air just moving in and out of your nose or lungs as you just breathe and be. And imagine what it would be like to find yourself on a lovely little sailboat on a beautiful calm lake. On one of those perfect kind of days with just enough wind to fill the sails, but not so much that it makes a bunch of crazy waves. And you're just sailing along. And the smell of the green trees and the water. You may see some birds or even hear some seagulls, because seagulls like to be any place there's water. The sound of distant fishermen as they toss their lines. And you're just out on the lake, and the boat is moving from one side to the other in a very comforting, relaxing way as you sail to the center of the lake. And the beautiful blue sky and the wind in your face, the sound of the air filling the sails. And then suddenly the wind just kind of drops away. And everything is so very still. And you can just kick back in the bottom of your sailboat on the soft cushions and look up at the beautiful blue sky and the little clouds just drifting by. And wouldn't it be interesting if you could just take the things that have worried you and concerned you and caused you anxiety and take each one of those situations or thoughts and just send them up to every little cloud that drifts by. Oh, there goes that worry. I'm just gonna send it up to that little cloud and then it drifts away. And then when another old anxiety or worry thought comes up, just imagine yourself sending that one right up there to the next cloud, too, and it drifts away from you as you just breathe and be and relaxed, kicked back on the little boat, feeling so good. Because you have in reserve, if you need, a little engine that you can turn on and use to get you back to the shore, and so you're safe and secure to just kick back and relax. And the slight rocking of the boat, the the sound of the water gently lapping at the sides of the boat as you drift along. And so taking a little more time now in your mind to relax in your sailboat, drift and unwind. Maybe the wind has picked up a bit, enough for you to unfurl the sails once again and make your way. Or maybe it's time to just turn on that little engine and motor across the clear waters to the shore. And when you arrive at the dock and cast on your lines, just feeling so good as you get out of the boat, once again find your feet on the shore, feeling so very good about who you are, who you choose to be. And as you move forward, just setting yourself on that good positive course for you, just breathe, just be.
