No visualization required for this one. Just your breath and a sound. This simple ohm — or amen, or any vowel — meditation creates a triple calming effect: it relaxes the body, focuses the mind, and directly stimulates the vagus nerve, triggering a nervous system reset. Two to three minutes and you'll feel the difference.

This is a simple but powerful sound meditation using ohm or amen if you prefer. Pretty much any vowel sound will do. Just after a few minutes of this, and you'll feel the difference in your body.

What I'd like you to do is breathe in through your nose, and then on the exhale, you're going to actually exhale through your mouth, making your sound. And if you'd like to, you can do the ohm sound with me. You can use amen if you prefer. It's important that you start the sound with your mouth slightly open, and then as the sound progresses, close your mouth so it becomes a hum. This is not just about the vibrations in your chest, which are really, really nice and very relaxing. It's also a point of focus for your mind to be focused on the sound and the breathing, but also that act of compressing the air by closing your lips actually sends some of that exhaled air back into your bloodstream and causes a physiology response of greater calm as well. So you've got kind of the trifecta going on there. Breathing in through your nose now, opening your mouth slightly. Oh and just kind of closing your lips there at the end. And once again, breathing in through your nose. And just continuing on like that with whatever sound you would like to use. Like I said, you can even experiment and do a e um you and see how that feels. And I'm just going to let the music play for two to three minutes while you practice that sound meditation. Enjoy.
